Henslin, LaverneLaverne Henslin, age 85 of Markesan, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the Barrett House.Laverne was born on September 3, 1931 in Waupun, the daughter of Elmer and Anes (Duven) Vande Zande. On November 3, 1954, she was united in marriage to Gilbert G. Henslin at Alto Reformed Church. Laverne was filled with unconditional love. She was always very loving, patient and kind to everyone she met, especially her family. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Markesan and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Her hobbies included canning, fishing, knitting, bird watching, gardening, making beautiful wedding and birthday cakes, floral arranging, polka dancing and watching softball. She enjoyed stopping at yard sales, flea markets and shopping during Maxwell Street Days.Laverne is survived by her children, Brent Henslin of Freedom, Keith (Patti) Henslin of Mound, MN and Gwen (Adrian) Ramirez of DePere; son-in-law, Charles Hamer of Markesan; grandchildren, Bryan (Heather), Eric, Ben, Joshua, Matthew, Jared, Logan and Maya; great-grandchildren, Travis, Kylee, Wesley and Oakley; siblings, Sylvia Schouten of Waupun, Mike Vande Zande of Waupun, Warren "Bud" (Kay) Vande Zande of Waupun, Keith Vande Zande of Fox Lake; Ellen Sommers of Kingston, Velma Seidel of Ripon, Dolores (Paul) Vande Kolk of Waupun; Elaine (Bob) Vande Zande of Ohio, Inez (Don) Bronkhorst of Waupun, Judy Vernon of Ripon; sister-in-law, Millie Vande Zande of Waupun; and further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilbert in 2013; daughter, Susan Hamer in 2016; brother, Irwin and other relatives.Visitation for Laverne will be held on Monday, April 24 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 65 W. Catherine St., Markesan from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Jason Jobs will officiate. Burial will be at Phelps Cemetery, town of Green Lake.
