LAWRENCE ERIC HARPER, SR. Lawrence Eric Harper, Sr., age 69, a resident of Mohave Valley, Ariz. passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 4, 2017, with family by his side. He was born on July 19, 1947 in Parker, Ariz. Lawrence graduated high school in 1966 and graduated from Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kan. in 1968. Lawrence enlisted into the United States Army on January 29, 1969 and was honorably discharged on January 3, 1972. Lawrence was a strong yet passionate man who enjoyed working as a Mechanical/Structural Engineer through various Governmental agencies, most recently with the Aha Macav Housing Authority for the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe. Outside of work, he loved spending time with family and friends at cookouts and watching the Arizona Cardinals. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie Mills and Ralph Marvin Harper of Needles, Calif.; and son, Lawrence Eric Harper, Jr. of Mohave Valley, Ariz. Lawrence Sr. is survived by his wife, Truelin K. Harper; daughter, Daedonda K. (Carlos Sr.) Saavedra of Mohave Valley, Ariz.; siblings, Betty (John) DeOcampo, Uretta (Pelon) Sanchez, of Needles, Calif. and brothers, Leonard M. Harper of Wewoka, Okla. and Darrell (Jessica) Mills of Mohave Valley, Ariz.; brothers in-law and sisters-in-law, Gerald Shipman, Darrell Shipman, and Shirley Matt, all of Phoenix, Ariz. and Sonya (Robert) Guenther of The Woodlands, Texas.; seven grandchildren, Carlos Jr. (Evelyn) and Olivia of Phoenix, Ariz., Alexa, Xiara , Lawrence Austin, and Katelynn of Mohave Valley, Ariz., and Lauren of Vero Beach, Fla.; and six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Nathan, Noah, Masen, Sarah, and Samuel; and many other loving relatives and friends in the Fort Mojave Indian Community. Memorial Services will be held on May 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.at the Ft. Mojave Tribal Gym, 500 Merriman Avenue, Needles, California, 92363. Arrangements by Dimond & Sons Needles Mortuary.
