YORK Lila I. Rehmeyer, 81, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015, at her home. There will be a viewing from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Interment will be in New Freedom Cemetery. Lila was born on October 3, 1933 in Shrewsbury, the daughter of the late Thomas G. and Annie L. (Tripplett) Rehmeyer. Lila worked as a nurse's aide for 15 years with VNA in York and was previously employed by the Barbara J. Egan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Shrewsbury. She enjoyed spending time at the beach, and loved gardening and working in her yard. Survivors include her daughters, Donna M. Brent and Bud Thrift of York, Brenda L. Bortner and her husband, James of York, and Jodie L. Ludwig and her husband, Eric of Seven Valleys; sisters, Joye E. Schuchart, Betty L. Diehl, Janet E. Hain and her husband, Lester, and E. Faye Tart, all of New Freedom; longtime companion, Robert Badders; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Sammy. In addition to her late parents, Lila was preceded in death by her brother, Earl "Buck" Rehmeyer, and a sister, Ruth Ann Fredrikis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the S.P.C.A. of York County, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406. J.J.
