Stollfus, Lorraine M.Our hearts are saddened today from the loss of our mom, grandma and great-grandma, Lorraine M. Stollfus, who was called to heaven on Tuesday, January 24, 2017.She was born on October 5, 1929, to Joseph F. and Rose L. Fritsch Aller in Colby, one half mile from the original Colby Cheese Factory. She spent her first 13 years in the Colby, Dorchester and Curtiss areas, then moved to Fond du Lac where she finished school at St. Joseph's and then graduated from Goodrich High School in 1947. She worked at Infant Socks.On April 22, 1950, she married Verlyn "Sugar" Stollfus at St. Joseph's Church in Fond du Lac, where they lived until 1955. They then moved to North Fond du Lac to a wonderful neighborhood for 34 years with many friends including the Krug family and Carla and Jerry Patt whom she loved. After retirement they moved and made their home near Van Dyne. Her husband passed away on September 7, 2007. In 2010 she moved to North Fond du Lac into the Northgate apartments.Lorraine was an avid reader. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting. She did volunteer work and was a member of the choir at Presentation Church attending daily Mass where she led the rosary for 20 years. She loved line dancing and took trips out West and Canada with her husband. She also went to New York with her daughters, granddaughter and friends. Her highlights of the trip were visiting the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and having lunch at the Tavern on the Green by Central Park. She enjoyed the years that she, Dad and Joe spent at the trailer at Paradise Valley Campground, Eden. In earlier years the family took trips down South to visit the Stollfus relatives.Lorraine is survived by her children, Greg (Terry) Stollfus of Fond du Lac, Sue (Mike) Kaufman of Waupun, Pam Stollfus of Rosendale, Cory (Dorie) Stollfus of Fond du Lac, Joy (Steve) Hankwitz of Malone and Joe Stollfus of Fond du Lac; 15 grandchildren, Carey (Greg) Schwebke, Heather (Shawn) Schumacher, Brian (Tara) Wendt, Keith (Stephanie) Wendt, Tiffany (Scott) Treleven, Lori Hankwitz, Jamie (Althea) Culver, Andy (Diane) Wendt, David Blackburn, Scott Hankwitz, Julia (Keith) Stollfus, Jenna Ninneman, Madeline Stollfus, Bridget Stollfus and Joanna Stollfus; 17 great-grandchildren, Abigail and Alex Wendt, Luke and Leah Wiesner, Parker and Peyton Wendt, Hans and Ty Wendt, Alana, Ila, and Charlotte Culver, Evan and Quintin Mostek and Jameson Treleven, Kayla and Justin Schwebke and Andreanna Meadows, other relatives and friends.VISITATION: Lorraine's family will greet relatives and friends at Kurki-Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac on Sunday, January 29, 2017, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and on Monday, January 30, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin, 706 Minnesota Avenue, North Fond du Lac.SERVICE: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin. Burial will follow in Rosendale Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, Mass memorials are appreciated.
