LAGRANGE — Lyle Spreuer Prough, 88, of LaGrange, died Friday, September 19, 2014, at Parkview LaGrange Hospital. He was born on May 5, 1926, in Shipshewana, IN, to Russel Harvey and Marjory Rosina (Spreuer) Prough. Lyle was a telecommunications technician for Sprint Phone Co. from 1951 until his retirement in 1985. He also worked for the LaGrange Country Club and Strawser Auctions after his retirement. He was a member of the U.S. Army ,serving his country during World War II. His other memberships include the LaGrange First United Methodist Church, Meridian Sun Lodge F&AM #76, Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne. Lyle married Mary Lou Rayner on June 23, 1951, in Shipshewana, IN. She survives in LaGrange. Also surviving are two daughters, Peggy Anne Prough of Carmel, IN, and Susan Elaine Prough of Fort Wayne, IN; he was the fourth of 10 siblings and surviving are four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Frances R. Prough of Shipshewana, IN; Mary Lou and Jack Van Antwerp of Howe, IN; Martha Ann and Leslie Pence of Sheridan, IN; and Ella A. Yoder of Shipshewana, IN; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Russel L. and Verba Prough of Elkhart, IN; Byron and Jackie Prough of Shipshewana, IN. His parents, a sister, Helen E. Mason, and two brothers, Harvey and Paul Prough, preceded Lyle in death. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at the LaGrange First United Methodist Church, 209 West Spring St., LaGrange. The Rev. Chris Danielson will be officiating. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange, IN. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 23, from 3-6 p.m. at the Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 West Michigan St., LaGrange.
