RACINE - Mabel Jean (nee: Thillemann) Zamecnik, 93, passed away at Wheaton Franciscian Health Care -All Saints on Monday, June 1, 2015. Mabel was a lifelong resident of Racine, born on September 28, 1921, the daughter of the late Hans and Holgine (nee: Sorensen-Post) Thillemann. She attended Wm. Horlick High School. On December 31, 1940, Mabel was united in marriage to Frank George Zamecnik in Sturtevant. Together, they enjoyed spending time at their home up north and had many foster children. Mabel was a longtime and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, including working with the Ladies Guild for Lutheran High School. She enjoyed doing crafts, needlework and knitting. Surviving is her son, William (Jessie) Zamecnik of Raymond; two daughters, Jean (Terry) Mau of Marco Island, FL and Linda (Paul) Lewis of Conover, WI; nine grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Fritz (Shirley) Zamecnik, Arlene (Kelly) Hanek, Dorothy Borowsky, Henry Kuhns and Shirley Zamecnik. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Frank on December 28, 2012 and a son, John Zamecnik; her siblings, Johannies, Thorvald, Jens Anker, Anna, Elisibeth, Nielsini, Agnes, Hans, Andrew, Harold and Karl Funeral Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2065 Geneva St., on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Stephen Jennings officiating. Visitation will be held at the church before services from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Mabel will be laid to rest, next to her husband at West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Mabel in a special way may direct memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church.
