MAIDA J. GIMPLE, 91 FREEPORT - Maida J. Gimple, 91, of Freeport, died Friday, August 8, 2014 at home. Maida was born on May 16, 1923, the daughter of Albert and Lela (Pals) Hagemann. Maida married Edward Gimple on April 5, 1942. Mr. Gimple predeceased her on January 24, 1997. She retired from Sears after 28 dedicated years of service as a retail clerk and sales associate. She was a 60 year member of Silver Creek Home Extension Unit, a member of the Pretzel City Red Hatters, and was a RSVP volunteer for many years. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. Maida enjoyed sewing, quilting, and gardening. Maida loved day lilies, and was the happiest when she could be outside in her flower gardens. She was predeceased by her parents, brother, John Hagemann; husband, Edward; son-in-law William Landowski, and grandson Aaron Landowski. She is survived by her daughters; Diantha Landowski, Jill (Mike) Rohner; son, Wayne (Dawn) Gimple; granddaughters, Sara Landowski, Caroline (Anthony) Jones; grandsons; Christopher and Nicholas Gimple; and her beloved dogs; Bella and Matilda. Maida was an extraordinary woman who touched the lives of many people throughout her lifetime. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her and loved her. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at St. John's United Church of Christ. Pastor Donnelly Dutcher will offi-ciate. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at St. John's. Burial will be in Gund Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memo-rial has been established in Maida's memory.
