Margaret Means was born on December 18, 1939 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Elmes and Sara Jackson of Newnan, Georgia, the third of four children. She departed this life May 9, 2020 at Coney Island Hospital, Brooklyn New York.
She was a graduate of Central High School in Newnan Georgia, the class of 1958.
Margaret attended Fort Valley State College before moving to New York City in 1961.
Margaret married Jack Means Jr. June 10, 1964 and to this union three children were born.
She was employed by the New York City Public School System (PS 288) for over 39 years until her retirement where she taught Pre-K and Kindergarten. She attended the United Community Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Sheepshead Bay until her health declined.
She enjoyed life and in doing so had a unique way of positively affecting everyone around her. She constantly made it a point to put her family first and was well loved by her community. Her dedication to her daily devotional bible study will be cherished and missed by all.
She was preceded in death by parents Mr. and Mrs. Elmes and Sara Jackson, husband Jack Means Jr., brother Horace Jackson, and sister Doris Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her children: Anita Hicks, Jackie Billups (Duane), and Brian Means (Melissa). One sister, Shirley Brittian (Ivey), Twelve grandchildren: Lamar, Sharaya, Duane (Shelly), Julian, Brian Jr., Tiffany (Danica), Shaquille, Isaiah, Yaanique, Ian, Jeremiah, and Austin. Five Great Grand Children: Laila, Kaizmer, Duane, Ethan, and Ava. A very dear companion Mr. Arthur Anderson and adopted sister Ms.Wendellyn Bunday. A host of nieces, and nephews, several adopted children and grandchildren as well special friends who will miss her dearly.
