Maria Zoe Lykoudis1927-2014Maria Zoe Lykoudis passed away November 23rd 2014 in Athens Greece. She leaves behind a son Michael, his wife Issa, and two grandchildren, Alexander and Nicholas. A resident of West Lafayette from 1953 to 1985 she had many friends and ties to the community. Maria Lykoudis was born on November 18th 1927 in Athens. After studying at the National University of Greece she went on to Bryn Mawr College to pursue graduate studies in Classical Archeology and then on to Radcliff College for further studies. While a student, she spent many summers working at the American School of Classical Studies, the Athenian Agora and Acropolis. After graduate school, she continued to share her knowledge and wonder of the ancient and modern world with her colleagues, family and friends for over 7 decades. The lessons of her optimistic and indefatigable spirit, despite great challenges to her health and quality of life, remain gifts to all who knew and loved her.
