Marjorie A. "Marge" Smith, 94, Monticello, passed away at 7:55 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at the Lakeview Senior Living Nursing Home of Monticello.She was born on Sept. 13, 1922, in Mars Hill to the late Otto and Mary (Spears) Hudson. On Nov. 11, 1939, at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Indianapolis, she married Ralph G. Smith; he passed away on July 20, 2012.Marge and her late husband, Ralph, had been summering in the Monticello area since 1963, then made Monticello their permanent residence in 1986. She was a former member of the St. Jude Catholic Church and retired from the St. Jude's School.Marge was an active member of the Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church of Monticello and was also a member of the Rosary and Altar Sodality. She loved cooking and would cook for anyone anytime. Marge was very caring loving, and she never knew a stranger.She was as close to an Angel as earthly possible.The family would like to thank the administration and staff at the Lakeview Senior Living Nursing Home of Monticello, especially the B Hall staff. Surviving are daughter, Linda (Dave) Dunn, Winfield, Mo.; sons, Ralph W. (Teresa) Smith, Monticello, Thomas "Tom" Smith, and Michael "Mike" (Diane) Smith, both of Indianapolis; daughters-in-law, Donna Smith and Linda Smith, both of Indianapolis; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Mary (Spears) Hudson; husband, Ralph G. Smith Sr.; sons, Richard "Dick" and Phillip "Phil" Smith; daughter-in-law, Madonna Smith; sisters, Jean Scott and Carolyn Hudson; and brother, Don Hudson. Visitation will be from 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello, and then from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Monday at the St. Jude Catholic Church, 5353 McFarland Road, Indianapolis. Funeral Mass will be at the church at 1 p.m. Monday with Father Steven Banet of the St. Jude Catholic Church of Indianapolis officiating. Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis. Memorials may be given to the Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church of Monticello or to the St. Jude Catholic Church of Indianapolis. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
