Konopa, Martha A.Martha A. Konopa, 97, Marshfield, died early on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Marshfield Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield, where the visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time. Her grandson, Rev. Brian Konopa will be the Principal Celebrant along with Rev. Eric Berns. Burial will take place in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Milladore. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Martha was born on September 6, 1919 to Matthew and Barbara (Lang) Vanek. She was united in marriage to Norbert E. Konopa on August 27, 1941 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Milladore. In 2011, they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with a special Mass in their home with family and their son Fr. Robert Konopa and grandson, Fr. Brian Konopa as celebrants. Norbert passed away on October 17, 2011. The Konopa's farmed in the Town of Carson south of Milladore until 1982. In 1991 they moved to Marshfield. Martha was a special person. Her love of the Lord showed through in everything she did. She enjoyed cooking and baking and socializing. She especially loved visits from her family. She is survived by her children, Marv Konopa of LaCrescent, MN, Don (Sandy) Konopa of San Diago, CA, Ron (Terry) Konopa of Marshfield, Carol (Rick) Newman of Marshfield and Wally (Joan) Konopa of Wisconsin Rapids. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister, Marie Zellner of Wisconsin Rapids and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Father Robert Konopa, OFM, and 4 sisters, Helen Swetz, Agnes Coenen, Ann Bohman and Sister Barbarine.
