Martha Updike HartRagley, LA - Martha Updike HartMartha Updike Hart, 68, of Ragley, LA passed away at 1:56 PM on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 in a local hospital.Ms. Hart was born on September 1, 1948 in Lafayette, LA where she was a 1966 graduate of Mount Carmel Catholic School. She attended USL before completing a business course at Spencer Business College in Lafayette, LA. In 1977 she moved to Ragley and began working in the education field for the South Beauregard School Board as a substitute teacher. She later became a paraprofessional (teacher's aide) at South Beauregard High School. Ms. Hart was a member of the Woodland Church in Longville, LA. She enjoyed arts and crafts and relaxing with family and friends.Martha will be missed by all she touched. She shared sweet, caring thoughts and actions not only toward her peers, but mostly toward the children of SBHS, Beauregard Parish 4-Her's, Girl Scouts, and many athletes from the area. She was a good example of doing her best when adversity came her way. She definitely has left a lasting impression on many people throughout her lifetime. Those left to cherish her memory are her caring companion, Leonard Gaspard; three daughters, Rebecca "Beckie" Hart Rozell Chesson (Casey), Kristina Hart Bourgeois (Mika), and Aimee Hart Guidry (Bradley); a sister, Patricia Updike Darbonne (Ned); and grandchildren, Warren and Jordain Rozell and their father, William Rozell, Benjamin and Gracie Bourgeois, and Tayler Guidry.She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren "Dub" Updike and Irene Ducrest Updike and the father of her children, Durward "Lynn" Hart, Jr.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Woodland Church in Longville. Pastor David Lilley will officiate. Burial will follow in Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin in the church on Friday from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.Donations may be made in Martha's memory to the , P.O.
