Marvin Charles Milliron of Oscoda passed away peacefully under the loving care of his family and hospice on Sunday, April 21, 2013, age 89 years. Marvin was born on Oct. 20, 1923 in Nesson City to Floyd B. and Elsie H. (Hotchkin) Milliron. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School and three days after Pearl Harbor was attacked Marvin enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served our country as a motor machinist mate stationed aboard the USS Heywood. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Marvin moved to Oscoda where he became employed at the Wurtsmith Air Force Base as a civil service engineer, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Oscoda VFW, Oscoda American Legion, Oscoda Yacht Club, a past member of the Oscoda Fire Department and a former member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Those who knew and loved Marvin will remember how he truly loved coin collecting, fishing and hunting. Marvin is survived by his 2 loving children, son, Kenneth B. Milliron of Oscoda, and daughter, Cindy (Rick Sr.) Knight of Oscoda; three grandchildren, Danielle (Kevin) Swales, Christopher Henion (fiancé Trish Evans) and Ricky Knight Jr.; five great grandchildren, Kyle, Marissa, Lanie, Anthony and Andrew; one sister-in-law, Joan Milliron of Oscoda; one niece, Dale (Richard) Raber; one nephew, Donald (Paula) Milliron; and many more loving family and friends. Marvin was preceded in death by a grandson, Richard Henion; one brother, Vaughn Milliron; and one nephew, David Milliron. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda with Pastor Dave Dudenhofer officiating and military honors being presented. His family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will take place after the funeral service.
