Mary Lou GrayJuly 10, 1931 - March 22, 2015Mary Lou (Jacobson) Gray, 83, of Nampa, Idaho passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 22nd at a local hospital with her family by her side. Mary Lou was born on July 10, 1931 in Ada, Minnesota the first of four children. She lived in Ada until Oct. 1944 at which time she moved with her family to Nampa, ID. She graduated from Nampa High School in 1949 and worked at Albertson's and then at Mt. Bell Phone Company in the Business Office. In 1951 she met Lawerance Gray at a dance and in 1952 they were married. Soon after their wedding, Lawerance went into the service. In January 1954, Mary Lou joined Lawerance in Austria. At the end of that year, Steven was born in Austria. They returned to the states shortly after Steven's birth and resumed farming in Nampa. In 1956 Delbert was born and in 1958, Glenn was born. Mary Lou's passion in life was to help Lawerance on the farm and be there for him. Mary Lou was very active in local and national agriculture organizations. She was an advocate for agriculture and wanted others to be informed. She was very involved with Franklin Community Church and was the secretary/treasurer for many years. She was also active in her local PEO Chapter. Mary Lou loved to cook, sew, garden and spend time with her family. Cooking included taking meals to the harvest crews at all hours of the day or night. One of the favorite things that people loved were her homemade cinnamon rolls. Mary Lou enjoyed being around her grandkids and great-grandkids. They put a smile on her face and they learned many skills from her. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her father and mother, Lewey and Lucille Jacobson. She is survived by her husband - Lawerance V. Gray of Nampa , three sons Steve (Kelley) Gray of Caldwell, Delbert (Lynda) Gray and Glenn (Rhonda) Gray of Nampa; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, her sister Elaine (John) Head of Boise, brothers: Duane (Nadine) Jacobson of Melba and Lyle (Marilyn) Jacobson of Nampa. The family would like to thank the ER staff, nurses and doctors at the St. Al's on Garrity for the wonderful care given to Mary Lou in her last hours. A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Friday, April 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at the Brandt Center (Swayne Auditorium) on the Northwest Nazarene University Campus, 623 South University Blvd. Nampa, ID 83686. Private Inurnment was held at an earlier date. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So., Nampa - 442-8171.
