HALE, Max EdwinMax Edwin Hale went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 2, 2016. He was born on October 5, 1914, in Rusk County, Texas. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth (Richardson) Hale; his father and mother, Howell Pope and Mary Emma (Holt) Hale; two brothers, Louis France and Howell Holt Hale; and his son-in-law, Ronald Ray Anderson. Max is survived by his son, Larry Hale; daughter, Judy Anderson; granddaughter, Julie Bailey (Bob); grandson, Eddie Anderson (Alyson); great-grandchildren, Joshua (Rachel), Nichole, and Jonathan; and great-great grandchildren, Isaac, Ruth, and Elizabeth, as well as four nephews and nieces. Max attended college in East Texas, was a partner in the hardware business with his father, and went into the United States Postal Service in Kilgore. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He received a Purple Heart with an Oak Leaf Clusterand was a POW in Germany. After retiring from the Post Office, he and Ruth volunteered for many organizations. Max was an active member and deacon of the Baptist church. He regularly prayed for his family and friends, who will greatly miss him. There are many people to thank for the love and care they gave to Max. May you be blessed for your kindness. The family will receive visitors at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd. in Austin, Texas, on Monday, November 7 at 9:00am, followed by the funeral services at 10:00am with Pastor Jeff Cramer officiating.
