Mildred Marie Philomene Glapion-Bourgeois passed peacefully on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 5, 1920 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Edward and Lenora Glapion-Breaux.
Mildred was a faithful member of St. Louis Catherdal Catholic Church. She retired from Louisiana Parish after teaching for over 30 years of service in New Orleans parish public and private schools. She leaves to cherish her memory: seven devoted daughters Claudine (Bourgeois) Warren (CA), Catherine (Bourgeois) Fleming (PA), Sarah-Jane (Bourgeois) Reed (DC), Elizabeth (Bourgeois) Powell (NY), Lillian (Bourgeois) Hanover (CT), Virginia (Bourgeois) Sullivan (WVA) and Aurora (Bourgeois) Lee (GA); five devoted sons William Bourgeois Jr. (AL), Richard Bourgeois (MS), Andrew Bourgeois (SC), Matthew Bourgeois (NC) and Paul Bourgeois (LA); 38 devoted grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Judge William Bourgeois Sr., and 1 daughter Wylma-Marie (Bourgeois) Works.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Second Rose of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church, 1739 Gordon Street from 8:00 am until 11:00 am. Followed by Funeral Services at 11:00 am. Rev. Joel Tyler, Pastor, Officiating. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery.
