Mitsue BatesZANESVILLE: Mitsue Bates, 79, of Zanesville died at 11:58 AM Monday, August 31, 2015 at the Genesis Hospice & Palliative Care.She was born on May 4, 1936 in Tokyo, Japan the daughter of Chojiro and Mieko Sugiyama.Mitsue and Charles met while Charles was stationed in Japan with the Marines. She was proud of her U.S. citizenship and fondly adopted its culture. Mitsue loved the Buckeyes, Bengals and Reds, an extreme shopper and love of family and friends was second to none.She is survived by her husband, Charles Bates, Jr. whom she married June 27, 1958; her children, Patricia Bates of Zanesville, Michael (Rebecca) Bates of Columbus, and Tina (Steve) Stanton of Nashport; grandchildren, Kiyomi, Thomas, Tasha Stump, Michael, Mark Bates; and several great grandchildren; her brothers, Takao, Yoshikazu, and Akira and several family members in Japan.Mitsue was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Mikiko.No public calling hours will be observed and a graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, September 3rd at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with Chaplain Tim Patton officiating.The Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. Zanesville is in charge of the arrangements.
