Myrtle Carmiletta (Waite) Dawes, 92, of Hartford, CT. died peacefully on Nov 5, 2016. She was born on Feb 29, 1924 in the District of Indios, Cuba. Myrtle was the 4th child of William Gordan Waite and Hepsizibah (Dick) Waite. At a very young age, the Waite family moved to Jamaica, West Indies where she grew up with seven siblings. She later married Ivan M. Dawes (predeceased), and raised a family. Subsequently, the Dawes family moved to the United States for more economic opportunity. Throughout her life, Myrtle was devoted to her family, and was a very spiritual person. She attended Bible classes and taught Sunday school. She lived a rich life practicing the teachings of the bible. She was kind, generous, and compassionate to everyone who crossed her path. She worshiped at Hartford Full Gospel Tabernacle and The Lighthouse Gospel Tabernacle. Additionally, Myrtle was an avid gardener and an excellent seamstress. She was employed by the Institute of Living, and The Women's League Day Care Center both in Hartford, CT. After raising their family, Myrtle and Ivan relocated to Florida, where they began a new chapter in their lives. Myrtle leaves to mourn her children Bancroft Dawes (Wanda) of CT, Carlton Dawes of FL, Paul Dawes of CT, Pauline Holloway (Nate) predeceased of FL, Locksley Dawes, (Cheryl) of Texas, Elaine Dawes of CT, and Carmiletta Teasley (predeceased) of MA. In addition, Myrtle leaves a host of grandchildren she adored, over 60 great-grandchildren, all who were very special to her. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins and dear friends. She had a very special friendship with Mrs. Josette Miller and her husband Kissock of Seffner, Fl. Myrtle is survived by one sibling, Linette Stewart, Predeceased siblings: Noel Waite, Crosby (Joe) Waite, Ciril Waite, Cynthia Rodney and Horace Waite The family would like to thank the following who assisted in Myrtle Rehabilitation, Medical and Hospice care: Hebrew Home & Rehabilitation, Hartford Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, and Masonicare Hospice. In addition, our gratitude is extended to Indra Crespo who provided support, love and care to mom. Funeral arrangements: A viewing and service will be held at Henry L.
