GLEN ROCK Myrtle E. (Raver) Bortner, 96, died Thursday February 26, 2015 at her home. She was the wife of the late Earl C. Bortner. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main St., Glen Rock, with her pastor the Rev. Julian Hall officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Fissel's Church cemetery. Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Bortner was born on November 3, 1918 in Glen Rock, a daughter of the late Harrison Alfred and Dora Grace (Mummert) Raver. She had been employed as a seamstress with the former Savada Brothers Sewing Company in Glen Rock and had farmed with her late husband for over 50 years in Shrewsbury Township near Glen Rock. She was a member of New Hope Fissel's UCC Church She enjoyed fishing with her husband in Ocean City, Md. and traveling to all 50 States and many foreign countries. Myrtle is survived by a daughter, Barbara A. Large and her husband, John of Glen Rock; a granddaughter, Michelle M. Purdy of Montrose, W.Va.; two great-grandchildren, Emery Ann Purdy and Lena Marie Purdy; and a brother, Charles M. Raver of York. She was predeceased by four sisters and three brothers.
