CROMWELL — Nancy J. Black, 78, of Cromwell, Indiana, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville, Indiana. She was born on January 18, 1938, in Nappanee, the daughter of Clifford H. and Ethel M. (Webster) Peters. On July 29, 1967, she married Gale E. Black in North Webster. Mrs. Black worked for Weatherhead Corporation in Syracuse for 16 years. She loved gardening, flowers, her animals, traveling, crafts and especially her dog, Lady. Nancy also liked to eat out any chance she got. She is survived by her husband, Gale Black of Cromwell; children, Janna (Phil) Huckolls of Eatonton, Georgia, Jennifer Phlegar of Warsaw and Jimmy Phlegar of Rome City; step-son, Michael Black of Lafayette; a sister, Jean Horn of Florida; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles Peters; and a sister, Carrie Haggerty. A funeral service will be held at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, Indiana, 46767, on Sunday, August 28, 2016, at 2 p.m. Rev. Ken Weaver will officiate. Burial will follow at Indian Village Cemetery in Cromwell, Indiana. Family and friends will be received from noon until the time of service on Sunday at the funeral home.
