Patricia Carter LUBBOCK-Patricia Scott Carter, a beloved wife, mother and friend, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at the age of 77. She was born on Nov. 25, 1939, in Shreveport, LA, to Kathleen and Daniel Hammond. On Feb. 11, 1968, she married the love of her life, Kenneth O. Carter. They were blessed to spend 48 years together. Patty, as her family and friends knew her, was a very successful Lubbock business woman. She and Kenneth own and operate the Lubbock El Chico restaurant since 1969, making it the longest tenured El Chico franchise in existence. Patty's passion for El Chico's was matched by her love of chocolate and candy, as the family has also owned and operated Otto's Granary Coffee & Chocolate Shop since 1981. A kind and generous soul, Patty took great pride in bringing joy and happiness to others. Those left to cherish Patty's memory are her husband, Kenneth Carter; her son, Kenneth Scott Carter; her brother, Daniel Hammond; her aunt, Joye Young; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Patty is preceded in death by her parents. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, from 2 to 5:30 p.m. at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with rosary starting at 5:30 p.m. A celebration of life will follow at 6:30 p.m. at El Chico Restaurant.
