Schafhauser, Paul C.Paul C. Shafhauser, age 92, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 18, 2016. He was born on February 29, 1924 in Appleton, WI a son of the late Herman and Anna (Fux) Schafhauser. He married the former Mildred Marie Allen on August 21, 1954. Paul served his country in the US Army Air Corp. during WW II as an engine specialist on the B-29 and was stationed on the Tinian Island in the South Pacific where he was assigned to the unit which dropped the first Atomic Bomb. He then attended aviation school in Gilsburg, IL where he received his mechanics and pilots licenses. He went on to own and enjoy a Luscombe aircraft. Paul then moved to Alaska and worked for Alaska Airways and then worked for Kimberly Clark Aviation for 34 years retiring as chief inspector. Paul was an active volunteer at the EAA. He is survived by and his memory will be cherished by his wife, Mildred of Oshkosh; sons, David (Elizabeth) of Antigo, Daniel (Teri) of Appleton and Mark (Christine Cerutti) Wisconsin Dells; a daughter, Mary (Tom) Brunner of Hortonville; a brother, James Schafhauser of Appleton. He is further survived by six grandchildren, Matthew and Jonathan Brunner; Christopher and Kyle Schafhauser; Darcy Nett, Dane Stetson; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude and Bette and a sister-in-law, Beatrice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Paul on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Raphael Catholic Church, 830 S. Westhaven Dr. in Oshkosh with the Rev, Doug LeCaptain as celebrant. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mayo Clinic Alzheimers Research.
