Phillip G. Cruz, 71, a longtime resident of Albuquerque and formerly of Holman passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014 in Albuquerque.He was born on Feb. 26, 1943 in Ely, Nev. to Alfonso Cruz and Priscilla Martinez Cruz.A lifetime Catholic, he was a member of Queen of Heaven Church in Albuquerque.He was a loving husband, father, grandfather,great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.He worked as a supervisor for Universal Construction for 41 years. He and his wife were members of the Queen of Heaven Spanish Choir; he loved to sing, and he had a beautiful voice.He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso and Priscilla Cruz; grandson, Emilio Garcia and great-grandson, Sebastian Martinez.He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Emma Cruz; daughter, Sandra Cruz and Tobias; son, Phillip Cruz and Sonia, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren: Jessica Martinez and Garrick, Alicia Garcia, Maria Garcia, Jessica Pascua and Richard, Alexis Cruz and Marissa Cruz; great-grandchildren, Quinton Pascua, Nadine Pascua and Gabriel Martinez; brothers, Alfonso Cruz and wife, Bessie, of Santa Fe, and Pasqual Martinez of Albuquerque; sister, Lillian Martinez of Holman; numerous brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.A rosary service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Queen of Heaven Church 5303 Claremont Ave NE in Albuquerque. Another rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today (Monday) at St. Gertrude Church in Mora. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday also at St. Gertrude Church in Mora with Father Dennis Dolter, SOLT as celebrant.
