SNEADS FERRY - Pilar Padovani Medina, 98, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at Onslow Memorial Hospital.

Pilar, known lovingly by her grandchildren and great grandchildren as "GG" for great grandmother, was born on Oct. 12, 1913, in Puerto Rico. She was the daughter of the late Antonio Padovani and Hipolita Padovani.

Including her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Michael Medina Jr.; and five siblings, Joseph, Eleanor, Maximillian, Michael Padovani and John Ayala.

Pilar is survived by her daughter, Gloria Howells; six grandchildren, Linda Lopez Sussman, Patricia Booth Harris, Michael Medina III, Cheri Medina Harris, John Medina and Sam Medina; fifteen great-grandchildren, Jay Anthony Booth, Christopher Booth, William Booth, Micah Medina, Nathan Medina, Andrew Medina, Matthew Medina, Adam Harris, Rebekah Harris, Rachel Harris, Benjamin Harris, Anastasia Harris, Simon Maxwell Medina, Alesandra Medina and Francesca Medina; and great-great-grandson, Connor Harris.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, at the Born Again Baptist Church, 1204 NC Highway 210 Sneads Ferry, NC 28460.
