Rachel Sookra, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, left this world on May 28, 2025, at the age of 103 in Schenectady, New York. She was born on November 17, 1921, to Vickash and Priya, who raised her with love and compassion.

In 1944, Rachel married the love of her life, Seecharan Sookra, and together they had seven wonderful children: Sheila, Leela, Sharma, Mahesh, Oma (married to Suresh Ramanand), Devi (married to Sam), and Carmin (married to Alfred Matthews). Rachel was also blessed with ten grandchildren who will always cherish her memory.

Rachel studied at Bladenhall High School, graduating in 1941, before continuing her education at the University Of Guyana, where she earned her degree in 1944. She was a dedicated student and lifelong learner.

One of Rachel's greatest joys in life was spending time with her family. Whether it was cooking delicious meals, telling stories, or just sitting together in silence, she cherished every moment she spent with her loved ones.

Rachel's warm smile and kind heart touched the lives of everyone she met. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her unwavering strength, and her endless love for her family.

Although Rachel's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, her spirit will live on in the memories and stories shared by all who were lucky enough to know her.

Rest in peace, Rachel Sookra A Wonderful Grandmother. You will be deeply missed Until We Meet Again.
