Ralph L. Bradley1922-2016Ralph Bradley was born on September 18, 1922 in Carnegie, Oklahoma. His family traveled by Model T to Golden, Colorado with high hopes for a better life. Ralph and his brother fulfilled their wishes. Ralph was valedictorian of his high school class and earned a scholarship to Colorado School of Mines. In 1943, he entered the
army and later became second lieutenant with the Corps of Engineers. When Ralph returned home, he resumed his studies and graduated from Mines on May 30, 1947 and the following day married Laurel Calmett, the love of his life. He then launched his long career as a chemical engineer working in oil and gas refineries. He worked as a project manager, ultimately becoming the CEO of Litwin Engineering in Houston. Despite all the demands of his career, he managed to keep his family first. It was the family's growth and happiness that brought him joy and fulfillment. Passionate about music all his life, Ralph played trumpet, sang in the church choir, and always had a harmonica close at hand. He loved the outdoors, and he instilled this love of nature in all his children and grandchildren. He was most at home while fly fishing the streams of his native Colorado. Ralph was a skilled woodworker and an avid golfer. In October of 2016, Ralph came down with septic arthritis. Even on the day he died, he played harmonica and worked out in the gym, completing his physical therapy before he quietly passed away. He is survived by his wife of 70 years (Laurel Bradley), his brother (Hugh Bradley), his three daughters and their families as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He will be remembered in a memorial service at Grace Presbyterian Church (10221 Ella Lee Lane, Houston, TX) on Friday, December 2 at 11 a.m. Friends are invited to join us for a celebration of his life.
