Raymond G. Farrell1922-2017Raymond George Farrell passed away on Mar. 3, 2017. Mr. Farrell was born on Feb. 7, 1922, in Elizabeth, N.J., to Raymond S. and Catherine M. Farrell. He graduated from Bernardsville High School in 1939 and attended Rutgers University, George Washington University and the University of Maryland. He entered the U.S. Army in 1942 and was awarded numerous combat medals including the Bronze Star. In 1963, after 20 years of honorable service, he retired as Major, Military Police Corps. Following his military retirement, Mr. Farrell joined the Internal Revenue Service and retired as manager after 26 years of service. Mr. Farrell was also a part-time professional musician. An avid percussionist, he loved attending theater, dance and concerts. His musical background was recounted in a full-page article in the Pensacola News Journal. He was also an active member of Pensacola First Church of the Nazarene.Mr. Farrell is survived by daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and John Regan; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Jonathan Berard; son Ronald S. Mayo, and son and daughter-in-law Philip and Cheryl Faulk. Also left to grieve are seven grandchildren: Lauren Merritt (Ben), Colleen Regan (Steve Mrvica), John P. Regan (Judy), Kevin Regan, and Shawn Regan (Elizabeth), Barry Mayo, Robin Mayo, sister Alvene Carpenter (Lawrence), seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and his two beloved cats, Trouble and Lucky. Visitation will be 10:30 am until 12:30 pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 N. New Warrington Rd., Pensacola, Florida, on Thursday, March 9, followed by a service at 12:30 pm with Pastor Jonathan Carnes from Pensacola Nazarene Church officiating. A Committal Service will be at Barrancas National Cemetery at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pensacola First Church of the Nazarene.Express your condolences in our guestbook at
