Richard Perkins 1934 - 2016MARION, IL - Richard Perkins, 81, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in Marion.Richard was born on December 31, 1934 in Vernon, IL to Harry Oscar and Nellie Irene (Gilsinger) Perkins. He married Maxine Wilson on July 3, 1975 in Springfield. She survives.Richard was in the U.S. Army serving in Korea. He worked the sales counter for Wholesale Plumbing for many years. Richard was a member of Heartland Christian Church. He enjoyed airplanes and spending time with his family and friends.Survivors include: Wife - Maxine Perkins of Marion, Son-Richard A. Perkins Jr. and wife Paula of Whiteland, IN, Daughter-Patricia Perkins of Evansville, IN, Daughter-Dorothy Vaughn and husband Mark of Fairfield, IL, Step son-Max Dillahunty and wife Debbie of Springfield, IL, Step daughter-Belinda Snow and husband Tom, Jr. of Mechanicsburg, IL, 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenneth Perkins; sister, Irene Welch; brothers, Alvin, Dean, Paul, Donald and Evert Perkins.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 11am at Heartland Christian Church in Marion with Rev. Greg Gibbs officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Wednesday from 10am until the time of service at the church.
