Richard A. StrausserAvocaAVOCA- Richard A. Strausser, age 69, a resident of Avoca passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017 at the McLaren Port Huron Hospital. He was born on September 9, 1947 in Metamora,  a son of the late Charles D. and Vera A. (Hiatt) Strausser.  Richard married Dianne M. Fix on September 19, 1969 in Port Huron. Richard  owned and operated Thumb Auto in Yale for 37 years.  Richard loved deer,  and raised them on  his farm, the Buck Shot Ranch.  He  loved his family and his animals, and he was a mentor and friend to many young people.  He is survived by his wife, Dianne M. Strausser of Avoca, a son Allan (Susan) Strausser of Yale; special father of Neil Kennedy and Terry Strausser;  three grandchildren Michael (Sarah), Nicole and Gabrielle; a brother Bob McLanson and 2 sisters Delores Pickard and Gloria Studer.  He was  loved by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons Thor T. Strausser on February 6, 2001 and Eric R. Strausser on July 1, 2001; five brothers Chuck, Marv, Don, Jim and Dave Strausser and a sister Ann Keller. Visitation will be from 3-8 P.M. on Tuesday at the Pomeroy Funeral Home in Croswell.  Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday at the Melvin Baptist Church in Melvin , with visiting at  the church from 10-11 on Wednesday.  Pastor Scott Markle will officiate.
