Carter, Richard W. "Nick"It is with heavy sadness that we announce Richard W. "Nick" Carter, 85, Green Bay, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born on June 27, 1931, in Green Bay to William and Julia (Hansen) Carter.Richard attended Central Catholic High School. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1947 to 1960, having served in the Korean War. On July 11, 1953, Richard married Anastasia "Nettie" Kizior in Pulaski. She preceded him in death on October 7, 1992. Richard was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for 30 years.In his younger years, he enjoyed camping, playing cards, getting together with family and friends, taking trips to Las Vegas, watching old movies and old westerns, enjoying his coin and car collections, and taking Sunday drives with his children. Richard was a good organizer with a sharp mind, and was known for his stubbornness with a heart of gold. He also enjoyed a Brandy Old Fashioned with a cigar.Richard is survived by his children and their spouses, David and Patti Carter, Diane and Don Van Rens, Donna and Pat Williquette, and Darin Carter; granddaughter, Michelle and Gil Shallop; three great-grandchildren, Bailey, Rylan, and Bentley; brother-in-law, Bill Adriansen; nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife, Nettie; his parents; two sisters, Vivian (Roger) Walker, Beverly Adriansen; three nephews, Pat Walker, Gary Walker, Pete Walker; and a niece, Pam Horkman.Friends may call at Fort Howard Memorial Park, 1350 N. Military Ave., from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, March 10, followed by the Funeral Service at 2 p.m. Full military honors will conclude the service. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family.
