Robert Donald TriggMadisonRobert Donald Trigg of Madison died peacefully in his sleep on February 17, 2017. He was born on April 5, 1937 to George Trigg, Jr. and Bernice Lott in Covington County MS. Robert spent the majority of his adult life in the Fire Service. While working for the Jackson Fire Department, he was promoted to the rank of Fire Marshall, and later to Deputy Fire Chief, serving 5 years in the Combat Division and 2 years in Administration. He retired from the Jackson Fire Department in 1981 at which time he went to work at the Pearl Fire Department as Fire Chief and Civil Defense Director. Robert had worked for years on his off days surveying health facilities for compliance with Medicare regulations. After his retirement from the fire service in 1989, he went to work at the Mississippi State Department of Health, Division of Health Facilities Certification and Licensure as a Life Safety Code Surveyor. He continued to work with this agency until 2007. He served 10 years as President of the Mississippi Fire Fighters Association. He served on the Board of Directors of the State Fire Academy for 10 years serving as Chairman for 4 of those of years.Watching football was Robert's favorite pastime, but he really enjoyed those Saturdays going to football games in Oxford to watch his Ole Miss Rebels play. He also enjoyed following Eli and Payton Manning in their careers. Robert never met a stranger and always had a good joke or story to tell.He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father Lee Martin. He is survived by his wife, Linda Holmes Trigg of Madison, son Robert Donald Trigg, Jr, Magnolia, TX, daughter Leigh Trigg Hays, (Johnny) The Woodlands, TX, daughter Paige Trigg Norwood, Marietta, GA, Robbie Trigg Terranova, Flora, MS, five grandchildren, Taylor Hays, Cooper Hays, Kelsey Lambright, Alex Norwood, and Anthony Terranova, and four great-grandchildren.He was a member of Highland Colony Baptist Church, Ridgeland, MS.Visitation will be held on Monday, February 20, from 5:00-8:00 pm at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 21, at 11:00 am, at Parkway Funeral Home with visitation from 10:00-11:00 am. Burial will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City, MS. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highland Colony Baptist Church, 1200 Highland Colony Pkwy, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
