Robert McCormickMelbourneAfter a brief illness, Robert McCormick of Melbourne died on November 7, 2016. Robert was born on June 28, 1926 in Scranton Pa., but spent the early part of his life in the area of Binghamton, NY. He made Florida his home in 1959. He was the third of nine siblings and is survived by three, Louise, David and Roger. He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Juanita, and four sons, Bruce, David (Meryl), John and Tom (Anne). He has four grandchildren, Diana, Brian, Wesley, and Jessica, and two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Bruce. Robert proudly and honorably served in the
United States Navy during
World War II and the
Korean War. He earned a Master's Degree in Mathematics and worked as an engineer for many years on the United States ballistic missile programs. Robert later taught mathematics at Melbourne High School, retiring in 1990. An outdoors enthusiast, Robert enjoyed hiking and was an early member of the Florida Trail Association. He loved history, was an avid reader, and enjoyed Soduko and crossword puzzles in his later years. Arrangements are by Ammen Funeral Services for a private service.
