Mr. Robert O. Miller transitioned from earth to heaven on November 17, 2016. Robert was the loving son of Elijah Miller and Myrtle Humphries Miller, born on March 1, 1958.Robert received his education in the public schools of Detroit, Michigan, graduating in June 1977. He entered the United States Army on September 1977. While in the military, Robert earned numerous commendations and medals. Robert spent twenty years in the military with several tours of duty overseas. He retired from active duty service in 1997. Robert was employed at Home Depot for twelve years.Robert was a kind and loving son, brother, husband and father. He was an active member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Hinesville, GA.After retiring from the military, Robert and his family lived in Midway, GA. In 2011, they relocated to Petersburg, VA. Robert was joined in marriage to Barbara Jean Williams on January 9, 1983. To this union one son was born, Robert Miller Jr.Robert is preceded in death by his father, Elijah Miller; and three brothers, Elijah Miller Jr., Marlo Miller and Lorrie Miller.Missing him forever will be his family: his wife, Barbara Miller of the home; two sons, Reginald Anderson of Detroit, MI, and Robert Miller Jr. (Chernika) of Atlanta, GA; mother, Myrtle Miller; five grandchildren; two stepgranddaughters; three brothers, James Turner (Kim), Dana Miller and Theodore Miller (Brenda); two sisters, Shirley Miller and Montez Miller, all of Detroit, MI; four sisters-in-law, Geneva Powell (Edward) of Emporia, VA, Nellie Kee (Marvin), Linda Williams of Petersburg, VA, and Delores Pope of Prince George, VA; one brother-in-law, Herbert Williams of Richmond, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.Services for Mr. Robert O. Miller will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 2223 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Va., Bishop Jeffrey L. Reaves Sr., pastor, eulogist.
