Robert BobStricklettSept. 21, 1947 - Jan. 26, 2017ROLLING PRAIRIE - Robert Bob Stricklett died peacefully at home on January 26, 2017, in Rolling Prairie, Indiana, at the age of 69.Bob is survived by his wife, Loretta Stricklett; children, Eric (Teresa) Meyers, Rochelle (Mark) Jones, Craig (Lisa) Meyers, and Sarrah Mosher; grandchildren, Kirstin Meyers, Samantha Jones, Kyle Meyers, Aidan Cotter, Natalie Cotter, Sydney Meyers, Jacob Meyers, Preston Mosher, and Kaytlin Mosher; siblings, Michael (Janet) Gilpin, Jay (Charlene) Gilpin, Daniel Gilpin, and Greg Gilpin; and numerous other brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Dottie Gilpin, his father, James Stricklett, and stepfather, Jack Gilpin.Bob was born on September 21, 1947, in South Bend, Indiana, to Dorothy Gilpin and James Stricklett. He graduated from New Carlisle High School in 1966. He married Loretta Stricklett in 1978. His children remember him as their biggest sports fan and a kind, gentle and patient father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. One of his proudest moments was watching Sarrah play in the 1996 Indiana State Basketball Tournament. Another proud moment was receiving a State Runner-Up ring for being part of the 2015 New Prairie Football team as part of the Chain Gang. His grandchildren remember him as always being there for them whether that meant being their number one fan at their music concerts, school performances, on the soccer field, football field or basketball court, sharing his love of trains, or always being eager for visit to the zoo.He loved learning all the local news from his morning coffee buddies at the Diner. He loved playing Euchre and other games with his brothers, brothers-in-law, children and grandchildren. And he loved golfing, canoeing and playing cards with his brothers, brothers-in-law, nephews and sons during Bachelor Weekend in Baldwin, Michigan.A visitation is scheduled for Friday, February 3, 2017, from 11:00 am - 1 pm EST with a funeral to follow at 1 pm EST at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert St., New Carlisle, Indiana. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bob's life.
