Roy Don Martin was born on October 29, 1953 to Roy Otis and Louise (Beckham) Martin in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Roy passed from this life on November 3, 2016 in Durant at the age of 63 years and 3 days.
Roy Don grew up and spent the majority of his life in Oklahoma and worked as a cultivator of the beauty that Mother Nature shared with him for most of his life. Roy Don was often found playing guitar for family and friends to pass the time and create the memories that would be reflected through the memories that most who knew him would have for the rest of their lives. He enjoyed music, flowers, plants, gardening, politics, and mostly spending time telling stories with and enjoying the company of his family and friends. Always with a story to tell and a smile on his face is how he will be best remembered. The love and friendship he had for each and every person he encountered could be seen in the kind, loving, and generous manner in which he carried himself.
Roy Don is preceded in death by his parents Roy Martin and Louise (Beckham) Martin, Roy Martin Jr, David Lynn Martin, Kevin Dale Sheffield and Earnest Martin.
Roy Don is survived by his daughters; Michelle (Martin) Peebles, and Joy Jones, brother; Billy Martin of Durant, sisters; Sandra Cavender of Meade, Oklahoma, Tammy Martin, Dee Anna Sutton, Sharin Calhoun and grand-daughter Kamryn Peebles and numerous other family and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Roy Don will be held on November 12th, 2016. It will be held at his sister Sandra Cavender's home at 439 Badger lane, Mead Ok 73449. Starting at 12 pm and lasting throughout the day and long into the evening as the moon and the stars come out to greet us to celebrate Roy's life. The service will be a pot luck style event and there are plans for all those that shared his love for music and life to bring their instruments, ice chests, and chairs. We will spend the evening telling stories, playing music, and sharing the memories of the life we shared and the love we all have for Roy Don Martin. See you again someday my, Father, Brother, Uncle, Friend, my Love.
