Russell "Rusty" JohnsonAge: 55Russell "Rusty" Johnson 55, passed away peacefully with family and friends by his side on April 5, 2017, at the VNA Respite House, after a long battle with cancer.He was born on May 27,1961 in Barre, VT the son George Henry and Lorraine Grace (Barttlet) Johnson.Russell grew up in Jericho,VT and attended Mount Mansfield Union High School. After graduation he worked for Dave Whitcomb's Center for many years, then went on to work for ST Griswold and then worked for SD Ireland for 20 years. Russell "loved" camping with family and friends, racing whatever he could get his hands on, snowmobiling, and most importantly relaxing in his comfy chair.He is survived by his wife Joan (Lavalette) Johnson of Huntington; daughters Hanna and Grace Johnson; his brother Walt Johnson and his wife Beth of Jericho, sister Mimi Johnson of Albany, VT; sister Lynn Johnson of Swanton, VT; nephew Timothy Johnson and his fiance Amanda King and their daughter Natalie Johnson of Underhill; nephew Andrew Johnson and his daughter Iris Kennison of Essex, VT; brother-in-law Fay Howard and his wife Penny (Lavalette) and their two daughters; Katelyn and Erica Howard of Colchester, VT and a special father-in-law Richard Lavalette.He also had countless life-long friends that he's leaving behind; Andrew Blades, Shawn McIntryre, Wayne Russin and Glenn Boisvert.A special thanks to all of the guys at SD Ireland for the continued support through it all and Dr. Unger and his Oncology team at the Fanny Alen, his VNA Nurse and the Staff at the VNA Respite House.Russell was loved and cherished by all of those who knew him, he will be missed greatly by everyone, he was a loving father, husband, brother, friend and coworker.Visiting Hours will be on Sunday, April 9th from 2-5 PM at the Corbin & Palmer Funeral Chapel, 9 Pleasant Street, Essex Jct.
