Sidney G. SchlosserMorristownSidney G. Schlosser died peacefully at home on Sunday October 30, 2016. A cornerstone of Morristown for the last 92 years, Sid had a sincerity and a way of connecting with people that made him stand out in our community. He was born on January 25th, 1925 in Newark's Beth Israel Hospital to Milton and Esse Schlosser. A lifelong resident of Morristown, he was raised with a rough and tumbled group of friends that helped shape his loyalty and competitiveness. He was also greatly influenced by his extended family and would often go fishing, coon hunting and on other adventures with his Uncle Emil Newmark. His work ethic , social conscience, thirst for knowledge and love of family were shaped by his father, Milton, who ran the Hamilton House Restaurant in Morristown from 1922 to 1950 was one of the founding members and a past President of the Morristown Jewish Center. A graduate of Morristown High School, class of '42 and Drew University class of '49. Sid played varsity basketball at both schools. He served 3 years in the Army Air Corp during
WWII. Sid founded Schlosser-Lewis Insurance Agency, was a founding member of Temple B'nai Or, twice president of B'nai Brith Morris County, a founding director of the First Morris Bank, a director and founder of Warwick Insurance Company, served as President of Beth Israel Cemetery Association for 27 years and had a 60 year real estate partnership with Richard Deskovick.Sid married Deenie Rassas in 1950 and were happily married for 66 years. Together they traveled the world sharing a love of history and culture. Sid is survived by his loving and devoted wife Deenie, their children: Judy Schlosser and her husband Larry Enten (Washington DC), Alise and Marty Ford (Mendham), Bill and Stacey Schlosser (Morristown) and 6 grandchildren: Joseph (his fiancée Kate Dickerson) and Michael Enten, Samantha and Jacob Ford and Caya and Scott Schlosser and by his sister Babette Bergner. He is predeceased by his grandson Marc Hamilton Schlosser and his sister Elaine Lewis. He and Deenie maintained homes in Delray Beach FL where they wintered for the last 30 years, Chautauqua, NY where they summered for the last 30 years and Morristown, NJ. Sid was also a member of the "Morristown Breakfast Club" meeting with a wide group of friends and Morristown notables for more than 60 years. Sid's family, friends and acquaintances will miss his insight, wit, knowledge, loyalty and friendship. Our community and every individual that he met, worked with or befriended benefitted by just knowing Sid. The funeral will be held at Temple B'nai Or, 60 Overlook Rd, Morristown NJ 07960 on Tuesday, November 1st at 10:45 am. Live streaming will be available at
