Thomas C. JohnsonLansing, MIWas born on August 26, 1927 and went to heaven on March 7, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys (Williams) and Thomas L. Johnson, his wife of 46 years, Viola (Roberts) Johnson, son-in-law Gary L. VanPatten, granddaughter Melissa (Kingery) VanPatten and his second wife of 17 years, Jean (Buhl) Johnson. Left to cherish his memory are daughter Cheryl VanPatten, son Tom (Julie) Johnson; grandchildren, Jeff (Cathy) VanPatten, Rob (Lori) VanPatten, Fred VanPatten, Heather Johnson; Greatgrandchildren, Samantha (Josh) Colley, Alexander VanPatten, Harley Johnson, Mraz Miner VanPatten, Lorelei and Robert VanPatten Jr.; stepchildren Ray (Sandy) Buhl, Kathy (Dave) Krieger, David (Jeanne) Buhl; several step-grandchildren and step-greatgrandchildren; sisters, Colleen Proctor, Jean Sheldon, Christine (Peter) Fioravanti, several nieces and nephews and best friend Art Alvera. Tom was a journeyman die sinker by trade and a very gifted wood worker. He made beautiful carvings and furniture which his family feels blessed to have. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 549 E. Mt. hope Ave. with Pastor Matt Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Windsor Twp. Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel and will continue Saturday at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Contributions may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Hospice of Lansing Stoneleigh Residence.
