Virgene Cannon1934-2016Helen Virgene Cannon, 'Virgene', daughter, wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma (our GG), and friend, passed away on November 17, 2016. Her final days were spent surrounded by family.Virgene was born on May 5, 1934, in Columbine, Wyoming, to Nick and Mary Carter. Her father traveled for work, so she lived all over the west growing up. While attending Wendell High School in Wendell, Idaho, she met the love of her life, Robert Cannon. They were later married while he was home on leave from the Navy on July 1, 1951. Together they had three daughters, Diana, Mary, and Nicki. In 1960, they settled in Garden City, Idaho and raised their three daughters. She spent time volunteering at the Garden City library, and loved being able to help raise her four grandchildren. She was an avid reader, enjoyed working in her yard, loved her raspberry bushes, and proudly took care of her property. Virgene was the rock in our family. She took care of us all, and always, always made sure we knew we were loved. She was greatly loved, and we will all miss her so very much. She is survived by her daughters, Diana Early of Meridian, Mary Orr (Ross) of Boise, and Nicki Cunningham (Steven) of Garden City; grandchildren, Sara Floyd (Brian) of Mtn. Home, Christy Dalling (Eric) of Meridian, Anthony Early of Meridian, and Amanda Hartvigsen (Lee) of Schwedelbach, Germany; 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grand dogs. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lester Cannon, parents, Nick and Mary Carter, and sister, Nellie Marie Carter. Arrangements are being made with Cloverdale Funeral Home
