Virginia Chavez, a dearly cherished Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother passed away peacefully at Yuma Nursing Center in Yuma, Arizona on Monday June 9, 2014. She was born on November 5, 1931 in Winterhaven, CA where she resided with her parents and 15 siblings. She was a leading member of the Catholic Church as well as a dedicated Quechan Tribal Member. She married her beloved husband, Nolbert Chavez (a U.S. Navy Veteran and retired railroadman) and dedicated her life to her family raising her three daughters. Virginia is survived by husband, Nolbert Chavez; daughters, Diana (Patrick Sr.) McCanna, Valerie Watkins, and Cynthia (Simon Sr.) Wong; grandchildren, Robert (Larissa) Ponce, Michael (Gina) Watkins, Christy Johnson, Mindy McCanna, Patricia McCanna, Patrick McCanna Jr., Timothy Wong, Aileen (Kyle) Wong, Simon Wong Jr.; great grandchildren, Cody, Brandon, Lokelani, Uhane, Danielle, Natalie, Nicholas, Joseph, Kaitlyn, Aaliyah, and Kilee. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Quechan Tribal Services, Immaculate Conception Church and Johnson's Mortuary, and Yuma Nursing Center where quality care and support were given in her final and ending days. A Viewing will be held Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Johnson's Mortuary, 1415 S. 1st Avenue, Yuma, AZ 85364 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. officiated by Oscar Chavez Sr. Services will follow Friday, June 13, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Church, 505 S. Avenue B, Yuma, AZ 85364 at 9:00 a.m. A Memorial Reception will take place at The
Elks Club, 2300 S.
