WILLIAM COLLYER William "Curt" Collyer, 80, of East Orleans, MA and Southport, NC, died on October 28, 2016. Curt, born on May 27, 1936 in Chatham, NJ, was the son of John & Marjorie Collyer. He was raised in Townson, MD. Curt graduated from Johns Hopkins College with a degree in Chemical Engineering. After college, he was hired by Olin Corporation and enjoyed a career of over 30 years with the company. His initial work with Olin was focused in the Chemical Division. After a factory explosion, early in his career, Curt redirected his focus to the sales side of the business. As a traveling sales manager for Olin, his work took him and his family to Ohio, Illinois, Connecticut & France. He and his wife enjoyed their retirement in Massachusetts and North Carolina. Additionally, he had the great opportunity to see the world with his job - visiting many major countries around the world. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Regina, his 5 children: Karen & Mike Lafferty of Charlotte, NC, John & Tracy Collyer of Derry, NH, Christine & James Bruner of Ashford, CT, David & Kelly Collyer of Cranford, NJ, Bill Collyer of Nashville, TN and his grandchildren: Michael Bruner, Christopher Bruner, Matt & Jennifer Bruner, Jessica & Nick Bamberg, Jack Collyer, Abby Collyer, Lily Collyer, Henry Lafferty, Thomas Lafferty and his great granddaughter Mia Bamberg. He is also survived by his brother David Collyer of Lorton, VA and his children, a niece Terry Collyer, and nephews Bob, Jimmy & Darryl Collyer. Over the years, Curt enjoyed golf, shell fishing, cooking, town politics, making sawdust, coastal living and watching his children grow into adults and start families of their own. When asked about his life's greatest accomplishment he was thoughtful and shared - he is most proud of the woman he selected to be his wife and life partner and the family they created together. He further shared that his good life happened without his intervention and if he named the story of his life, the title would be A FORTUNATE FELLOW. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 25, 2016 at 3pm. Brunswick Funeral Service will be hosting the service at their Southport/Oak Island Chapel, 3479 Southport Supply Rd SE. Plans for an Orleans, MA service will be made and shared in early 2017. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Levine Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Dr, Huntersville, NC or your local Hospice House. Online condolences can be made at
