XENIA — William Edwin "Eddie" Spencer passed away Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014 at the age of 75. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Katherine Spencer. Eddie is survived by his loving wife Carol Chambliss Spencer, son Eric Spencer, brothers Robert (Karen) Spencer, of Xenia; Larry (Lynne) Spencer, of Pennsylvania; step-daughter Brenda (Danny) Stewart; granddaughters Natalie, Elyssa, and Ashley, of Xenia; great granddaughter Makenna ("Seed"); great grandson Matthew; sister-in-law Betty DeVoe of Xenia, brother-in-law Steven (Cathy) Chambliss of Xenia and a nephew David Chambliss of Columbus. Eddie was born on Aug. 9, 1939 in Xenia, Ohio. He graduated from Xenia High School in 1958. Eddie dearly loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He worked as a mechanic in the 1960s at Ellis Motor Company/Ken Cole Ford. He drove a truck starting in 1973 and continued to work for American Builders and Sunoco until his health forced his retirement. He was an avid organized racing competitor, including motorcycle racing, drag racing, and go-kart racing. You could often see him driving around town on his Harley-Davidson. He would work in his garage with his car and motorcycle, always striving to improve performance and appearance. He also raised homing pigeons. Eddie will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A memorial service officiated by Rev. John Lockwood will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8 at The Xenia Friends Church, 502 Chestnut St. In lieu of flowers send donations to Xenia Friends Church. He generously donated his body to Wright State Anatomical Gift program.
