Abra Lowdins was born to Osborne and Julia Lowdins on December 3, 1939 in Welsh, Louisiana. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict Era in the 112 10th Infantry. Abra worked at Dixie Vault and Welsh High School. He married Audrey Vital Lowdins and had six children. Abra was a lifelong resident of Welsh, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents Osborne and Julia Lowdins; his wife, Audrey; granddaughter, Abryanna and son, Abra, Jr.; four sisters: Hilda Linscomb, Roberta Vital, Marylee Freeman, and Carolyn Delafosse; three brothers, Rogers Lowdins, Sr, Preston Lowdins and Thomas Lowdins.
Cherishing his memories are his son, Ernest (Keysha) Levias of Welsh, Louisiana and four daughters: Brandy (Woodrow) Clophus of Fenton, Louisiana, Eunice (OMaster) Fowler of Beaumont, Texas, Kathryn (Arthur) Wells of Beaumont, Texas and Kirra (Chris) Patterson of Welsh, Louisiana. Four sisters, Bertha Eaglin and Judy Charles both of Jennings, Louisiana, Retha Talbert of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Ruby Jerman of Chicago, Illinois. One very loving dedicated daughter-in-law, Kaye Woods Vital of Gueydan, Louisiana. And a special companion, Veda Drake of Welsh, Louisiana. Twenty-three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and god-children.
Visitation will be at New Hope Baptist in Welsh, Louisiana on Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Bon Pasteur Cemetery under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel.
