Ada Barbara KlinkhammerOctober 25, 1933 – December 13, 2014Ada Barbara Klinkhammer (Waters) passed away on December 13, 2014 in Bellingham, WA. She was 81 years old. Barbara was born on October 25, 1933 in Nordegg, Alberta, Canada to William and Melba Waters. She was the youngest of three girls. They were a coal miner's family and lived for several years in Saunders Creek, Alberta, a mining town which no longer exists. Barbara and Virgil attended the Saunders Creek Reunion for many years. Barbara enjoyed seeing many of her acquaintances from when they all lived there.In 1952, after attending Lab & X-ray Technician School in Minneapolis, Barbara moved to Juneau, Alaska to accept a job with the Juneau Clinic. She worked for many years in her field.Barbara married Virgil Klinkhammer on August 28, 1953 in Juneau. The family left Alaska and moved to Bellingham in 1980, where they lived on 5 acres with cows, sheep, chickens, geese, peacocks, and donkeys and enjoyed their retirement. Barbara was very active in Beta Sigma Phi, where she made many lifelong friends. She also volunteered for many years at Hovander House as a docent and at Pioneer Park for the Old Fashioned Christmas and in the spring when the elementary kids came to tour the cabins.Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, Virgil Klinkhammer in 2011, sister Joan in 2007, and sister Vera in 2011. She is survived by her children, Roxanne Pierce, Eric Klinkhammer, and Kristopher Klinkhammer (wife Tina), and grandchildren Shaune Pierce, Travis Pierce, Jase Klinkhammer, and Kaden Klinkhammer. No services will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held January 9, 2015 from 1 to 4 pm at Greenacres Cemetary, 5700 Northwest Drive, Ferndale, WA. Friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Whatcom Hospice.
