Afef Ameen, 92, passed away at his residence on October 26, 2016. He was born on July 18, 1924 to Saheed and Sophia (Aboukalil) Ameen. He was a graduate of Manchester Central High School. He worked for many years at New England Telephone Co retiring in 1974. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Post #79 American Legion and belonged to the New England Telephone local union 2320. Afef also managed the Italian American social club which became the Mediterranean club. And most recently he was active in the Winona social club. He was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Parish.He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Jane Hicks, in 1992, and one sister Helen Shaia and three brothers W. Thomas, Fred J. and Edward Ameen. He leaves behind a daughter, Gail S. Badger of Manchester, a long time companion Susanne Houle Raymond of Manchester and a granddaughter Brie A. Badger and a grandson Michael W. Badger as well as several Nieces and Nephews.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blessed Sacrament Parish Food Pantry, 14 Elm St., Manchester, NH 03103.Services: Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Oct. 30 from 4 to 6 pm at The Durning, Bykowski and Young Funeral Home, 285 Manchester Street. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Oct. 31, at 10 am at Blessed Sacrament Church on Elm Street in Manchester. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
