It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Aida Rosa Leon Fernandez Zayas, age 66, of Meriden, CT, who passed away on November 8, 2024. Aida was born on February 22, 1958, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, and was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Aida was a woman who devoted her life to her family. She found great joy in spending time with her loved ones, and her home was always filled with laughter, love, and delicious meals. Whether she was cooking for her family, tending to her garden, or playing with her great-grandchildren, Aida’s nurturing spirit shone through in everything she did. Her legacy of selflessness, compassion, and joy for life will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Caez, Juan Caez, Angel Leon, Rosymar Zayas and Karla Leon her cherished grandchildren, Angelica Gonzalez, Marcos Gonzalez, Kazandra Claudio, Nayeli Baez, Mariangely Baez, Luis Baez, Nadesha Leon, Nicoleum Leon, Michael Leon, Diangelo Leon, Taina Leon, Yaralix, Juan Carlos and Ciaralix Caez, and great-grandchildren, Uriah Gayle, Andre Walker, Alexandria Claudio, Jayden Gonzalez and Esmee Gonzalez. Aida is also survived by her loving siblings, Maria Leon, and Roberto Leon, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was predeceased by her mother Aida Fernandez, her husband Miguel Zayas, brother Teddy Fernandez and sister Tatianna Fernandez.

Aida’s family takes comfort in knowing that her love and devotion to them will continue to guide and inspire them every day. She will always be remembered for her gentle soul, her love of family, and her ability to make every moment special.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Aida's life will be held on 11/23/2024 at Borinquen Memorial Parks with visitation beginning at 9:00 am.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the medical team and caregivers who supported Aida during her final days. Her family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support they have received during this difficult time.
