Alan Harold Gartmann, 77, of Sheboygan, passed away Wednesday September 6, 2017 after spending time doing what he loved in one of his most cherished spots, his goose blind.Alan was born on November 14, 1939, in Sheboygan to Harold and Jeanette (Goell) Gartmann. He was a 1957 graduate of Oostburg High School. On October 26, 1973 Alan married Barbara Bahlow. Alan was employed for the Village of Kohler for over 30 years until his retirement.Alan was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Town Wilson. He was also a member of River Wildlife and former member of the Farmers and Sportmans Club and the Sheboygan County Conservation Association. Alan was a former Elk Member and a current Moose Member. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed his vegetable garden. Alan is survived by his wife, Barbara of Sheboygan; three children, Brad Gartmann of Sun Prairie, Jolene Gartmann of Sheboygan and Benjamin Gartmann of Sheboygan; one granddaughter, Bridget Gartmann of Winona, MN; brother, WIlliam (Helga) Gartmann of Sheboygan; three sisters-in-law, Sharon Gartmann of Sheboygan, Connie (James) Schmitt of Howards Grove, and Yolanda (James) Graf of Sheboygan. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Alan was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Rodney Gartmann.A funeral service to celebrate Alan's life will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 10am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Town Wilson, with Rev. Shane Cota officiating. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan.Relatives and friends may greet the family at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Sunday, September 10, 2017, from 4-7pm and again on Monday, September 11, 2017 at the CHURCH from 9am until the time of service at 10am.A memorial fund is being established in his name.For online condolences and additional information please visit
