Albert Earl BorupAGE: 89 • Monroe Twp.Albert Earl Borup, 89, of Jupiter, Florida and Monroe, New Jersey passed away peacefully on August 15, 2017 in Jupiter.He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen (nee Petelenz) Borup; his three adoring daughters, Debra Borup of Lebanon Township, NJ (m. Clark Twining), Betsy Borup of Long Branch, NJ, Jodi Meehan (m. August Meehan) of Metuchen, NJ; grandsons Michael Sullivan and Tyler Sullivan; granddaughters Amanda Meehan and Kate-Lynne Meehan and great grandson Liam Brislin.His wife of 61 years, Jeanne (nee Averil) Borup, and brother, Donald A. Borup predeceased him.Al was born on May 23, 1928 to Delsie E. Borup and Albert Christian Borup in Maple Meade, New Jersey. He graduated from Perth Amboy High School where he was a high hurdle state champion. He married Jeanne, his high school sweetheart, in 1949. Al was owner of Borup's American Radio TV and Appliance Center of Perth Amboy and Edison, NJ. He was instrumental in starting and president of the bulk appliance buying group BBD (Best Brand Dealers), later named NBA (National Brand Appliances). Al was very active in numerous organizations and clubs. He was a member and past Worshipful Master of the Masonic Temple (Raritan Lodge No. 61/LaFayette Lodge No. 27), a member of the Eastern Star, the Shriners, the Danish Brotherhood and the
Elks Club. He was an avid skier and past president of the Raritan Valley Ski Club. He and Jeanne traveled extensively skiing out West and in the Alps. In addition, he was a past member of the Lavalette Yacht Club. Al also became passionate about golf. He was a member of the Metuchen Golf and Country Club in New Jersey and the Tequesta Country Club in Florida. Al had five Holes in One!Al and Jeanne were long-time residents of Metuchen. Al retired in 1987 and a few years later he and Jeanne moved to Rossmoor in Monroe, NJ where they had a house on the golf course. They became Snowbirds and spent the winters in Jupiter, FL. After Jeanne passed in 2010, Al was lucky enough to meet Kathleen and have a new love in his life. They were married in 2012 and filled each other's lives with love, joy and companionship. Kathleen and Al's three daughters were by his side when he passed. He will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 15 at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Avenue (Route 27), Metuchen, NJ, 732-548-0149. Visitation will be from 10 - 12 with a service at 12pm. After the service, Al's cremains will be placed in the Borup Family columbarium in Hillside Cemetery, Metuchen.
