Albert Leonard Galvin was born on May 26, 1948 to the late Albert (Babe) and Doris Galvin in Belleville, New Jersey. He departed this life on April 11, 2020 at Mountainside Medical Center in Glen Ridge, New Jersey after an untimely illness with COVID-19.
Albert (Baby Boy) was a long-time resident of Belleville and graduated from Belleville High School. He continued his formal education by graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University (Rutherford Campus) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
Shortly after his college graduation, Albert was hired by Deloitte Haskins & Sells, top 8 Accounting firm, on Wall Street in Manhattan, New York where he worked for several years until he was offered a position on January, 1974 at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) in Newark, NJ. During his tenure at UMDNJ, Albert was promoted to several high level (senior) financial positions from Internal Auditor, EDP Auditor and Bursar until he retired after 17 years of service.
Albert was an intelligent, highly motivated, determined, and independent man who worked dauntlessly to insure a stable home for himself and his family. In addition to his full-time position at UMDNJ, Albert was a consummate business professional who worked part time with several multilevel marketing businesses including Amway and Herbalife. He also was a Tax Professional providing tax preparation services and was well respected in his community. His strong work ethic, interpersonal skills and his “can do” attitude greatly contributed to the positivity and efficiency of his many responsibilities.
Albert was a loving father, son, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend who was very devoted to his family. He was committed to providing for his son Kortney and his parents making sure they were well taken care of. Despite his physical challenges, Albert didn’t allow anything to hold him back from striving for success and focusing on his goals. He was loved and respected by all who knew him and positively impacted the lives of many family members, friends, and colleagues. He will be dearly missed!
He will be remembered for his many philosophies on life including, one in particular: “Let’s Do It The Right Way”.
Albert was predeceased by his parents (Doris & Albert Galvin) and his brother (Stephen Galvin) but he leaves to cherish his memories his only child, Albert Kortney Galvin, two step daughters Krystal Eley, Kalinka Eley, four step grandchildren, two nephews Antwon Galvin and Stephen Galvin, grandniece Nyisha Wright, two Aunts Eleonor Hart and Evelyn Murria (Texas), a best friend (like a brother) Joe Radman and many loving extended family including cousins and friends who will all miss him dearly.
