Albert Papa, 74, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2022.
Albert was born in Passaic, NJ to the late Anthony Papa and Clementine Crispo Papa and was raised in Clifton, NJ.
He voluntarily enlisted in the US Army in 1967 and served in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968 and was honorably discharged as an E5 Sergeant. He served with distinction being awarded such honors as: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, 2 Purple Heart’s with Oak Leaf Cluster, Sharpshooter Badge Rifle M-14, Army Commendation Medal W/V Dev, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.
From 1970 to 1986 he was the Owner/Operator of Ecology Auto Parts, an automobile dismantling, recycling and parts resale business. After retiring he continued his love of fixing and tinkering by working on automobiles, boats and home remodels.
He is survived by his daughters, Danielle Papa, of CA, and Andrea Papa Lopez, of SC, his grandchildren, Selena Vieira, of NJ, Imani and Abdul Fraser, of FL, his great nephew, Kyle Vieira, of NJ, his 3 brothers Anthony Papa, of NJ, Bob (Betsy) Papa, of FL, Tom (Elaine) Papa, of NY, and his sister Josephine (Frank) Caccavo, of FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Camille Maccarelli and Linda Papa.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held on June 14 2023, Flag Day and the Founding of the US Army, at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA at 2pm.
